Thinking Us festival

The Thinking Us festival will feature a broad range of art, movement and knowledge-based explorations that aim to foster an experience of antiracist collaboration.

We have created a ‘space that makes space’ which can indulge us with the joy of working towards a ‘good life’ and setting our tone for the academic year. In this sense, the space is for us, academics, researchers, staff, to think about what we need to feel supported in our work, particularly when we bring together our specific expertise with our commitment with impacting the world. There are many pieces to weave together, and we are also part of that puzzle. We need to make space to attend to our own process, our doubts and certainties, our emotions, our bodies, and then how do all of these sit in relation to how we research, how we write, how we teach.

The Festival aims to offer a sense of what a transformational research and an educational space might look like. The day-long event will help us understand more what we need as a community as well as what we can offer collectively. It includes workshops, short talks, art making/thinking, movement and dance, and music performance and of course some good food and hanging out time.
