Despite significant economic and political changes, caste remains a persistent marker of inequality and identity, woven into every aspect of social life in India.
Tackling entrenched inequalities in India requires renewed conversations about caste in relation to race and broader Global South experiences, both within and beyond academia. We are convening scholars to identify research opportunities and design impactful interventions.
Explaining the resilience and resurgence of caste poses a key challenge for analysis. Additionally, viewing caste as a multi-dimensional and interlocking structure of oppression offers new insights into global discussions on race and racialisation.
